Dal Khichdi is a famous khichdi in Maharashtra.It is healthy and tasty dish.It is a light food item and is easy to prepare.
How to Cook Dal Khichdi
Preparation time-10 minutes
Cook time- 30 minutes
Served to- 4 person
Ingredients
. 250 gm rice(soaked for 10 minutes)(long grained rice)
. 100 gm tuar Dal
. 2 medium size tomatoes (finely chopped)
. 1 big onion (finely chopped)
. 3-4 green chillies (chopped)
. 12-15 garlic cloves(chopped)
. 12-15 curry leaves
. Coriender leaves (for garnish)
. 1/2 tablespoon crushed ginger
. 1/2 tablespoon garam masala
. 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
. 1 tablespoon red chilli powder
. 1/2 tablespoon dry coriander powder
. 2-3 dry red chilli powder
. 1/2 tablespoon mustard seeds
. A pinch of hing
. Salt as needed
. 1 big tablespoon ghee
Preparation
. Now Cook Dal in pressure cooker with 2 glass of water without adding salt and turmeric powder.Then put cooked Dal in a pan.
Step by step process to Cook Dal Khichdi
. Bring a pan on the stove,add ghee in it.When ghee starts heated up add mustard seeds ,dry red chilli when seeds starts sizzle add hing and ginger in it.Now add garlic in it when garlic become golden then add curry leaves and onion green chilli in it.Stir untill onion become light golden.
. Now add tomato in it.Add turmeric powder in it.Mix all stuff properly for seconds.Now add red chilli powder,garam masala powder and dry coriander powder in it. Mix well for 1 minute at low flame.Now add cooked Dal in it mix well.
. Cook for 1-2 minutes then add cooked rice in it,mix properly.Add salt in it.Cook all stuff 2-3 minutes.That mixture should not be very liquid nor dry.Now switch off the gas.Garnish with coriender leaves.Now Dal Khichdi is ready to be served.Add extra ghee while going to serve.Serve with curd or papad.
